Profile:I am looking for the origin of my surname Alexander. I have hit a Brickwall with my great great grandfather Warren P Alexander. He was born in 1822 in Pittstown NY. This info was confirmed by Civil War records. He married a first wife in any but her name is unknown. I know this because two children were born in NY. Dorian 1851 and Charles H 1853. There was than another son Harry C born 1855 in Clay Co, Dick Johnson Township, IN. On 10 Nov 1857 he married Lucinda Wallace born 1841, died 6 Djec 1895 in Madison IN. A census for 1860 shows Warren, Lucinda, Charles H, Harry C and Isadore a one year old residing in Dick Johnson township, IN. Warren's first wife and daughter Dorian just vanished? Warren and Lucinda had Isadore 1860,Scott 1861,Edward 1864,Walter 1868,John 1870 and Catherine 1873. Warren was in the 11th Cavalry,126 Regiment Indiana from July 1863/5 Feb 1864 to 23 May 1865. He was discharged for having excessive diarrhea. Probably cause of death in 1875? Warren was a Copper by trade. https://www.familytreedna.com/my/y-dna-dys.aspx
