Project Description

Names of Ancestors:Lula, also went by Lou. Maiden name Gammage or Mckinzie. Married Virgil Harvey.
Religion of family Member(s):
Village/Town/Province/State of family:Scott county, Yazoo
Range of years which are required for the research:1871-1900
Specific dates and events:
Occupations of family member(s):
Names of any spouses and how they relate to your family lines:Virgil Harvey her husband he was about 21 when they married.
Sibling names:This is info I'd like to find out more about.
Dates of immigration:
Information available from previous research:As of 1900 census they were living in Beat 2, Scott Mississippi. I'm comfortable with what I know about her children and husband to an extent.
Goal of research:This is my great great grandmother. I am trying to find out her maiden name and any family members prior to her marriage abt. 1989.
Branch of service, rank, and years served in the military for any family members:
Additional Notes:Death certificates of one of her children say Gernage (could be transcription issue), another Gammage and another Mckinzie. All were her children,but death certificates were probably filled out by people who didn't know her personally. I want to know about her prior to 1900. Again, maiden name, sibling names, parent's names. I've done some research on and off for 10 years, but cannot connect her to any other people definitively (census, marriage, birth, church record). One of her daughters stated she was half native American and black. I just want to know more about her. One of Her granddaughters thought the name was Gammage and another thought it was Mckinzie. She died in either Mississippi (Yazoo) or Chicago (perhaps the surrounding areas) in abt. 1931 of cancer. There were some census records that burned in a fire previous to 1900 so, I'm not sure where else to look.
