Project Description

Names of Ancestors:Arturs Stepans (Stefans, Stefanovich, and similar)
Religion of family Member(s):Catholic. But he died in a hospital (sanatorium) far away from home, so his records might be only civic.
Village/Town/Province/State of family:He was Latvian, went to study to St. Petersburg, got ill with tuberculosis and ended up in (sanatorium?) in Kislodovsk, where he died in +/- 1916
Range of years which are required for the research:1910-1916
Specific dates and events:He was Latvian, born around 1895 (+/-), went to study to St. Petersburg, got ill with tuberculosis and ended up in (sanatorium?) in Kislodovsk, where he died in +/- 1916
Occupations of family member(s):student
Names of any spouses and how they relate to your family lines:his parents - Fricis Stepans (Fridrich, Fritz, Stefans, Stefanovich) and Julija Jurcika-Bierne Stepana
Sibling names:Veronika, Yanis (Janis), Anastasia
Dates of immigration:
Information available from previous research:I listed his parents and siblings. I don't know anything else, he died young, far away from home, I only know from a record on a photograph that he went to St.Petersburg, got ill with tuberculosis, went to the hospital/sanatorium in Kislodovsk and died there.
Goal of research:My main objective is his death certificate (probably in civic records) or any other document from the hospital in Kislodovsk and the place of burial. Also, maybe, if possible, any information from St. Petersburg, about his years of study - possibly in catholic seminarium, but might be from university. I only guess he went to study to become a priest, as his siblings were very religious and he was from a rather poor family.
Branch of service, rank, and years served in the military for any family members:
Additional Notes:In regards to St.Petersburg research, if anything is possible, I could increase the budget.
